The soundtrack of Doom 2 was composed by Robert "Bobby" Prince. Some of these tracks are known to have originally been written for Doom. Two of the tracks are re-adapted by Prince from his earlier work on Wolfenstein 3D. Many of the songs were inspired by or closely mirror popular rock and metal songs of that era, from groups such as Alice In Chains, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Pantera and Slayer.
